Our Thoughts
“…Every now and then a property comes along that seems to have universal appeal. Let me try an explain my train of thought … If I were to distil the myriad conversations of people who, over the years, have sought their perfect property in this area, then the short list would look something like; Four Bedrooms, Separate Lounge and Dining Room, Separate Utility, Ground Floor toilet, Garden and Rural location and, oh yes, must have a garage or at least off road parking. Well this perfectly describes Vine Cottage which lies at the end of an adopted lane deep in the heart of the country and forms part of a small hamlet of just four cottages – all friendly neighbours I am told. When I first pulled onto the paved driveway I was immediately taken with this cottage and the inside did not disappoint. The stable-door entrance to the utility [boot room] gives the first hint of tradition as the current owners have spent the last eleven years painstakingly renovating and improving this cottage. I particularly loved the kitchen which has been created by the owner [a craftsman carpenter and cabinet maker]. This is not a vast room but, as it was bespoke, there is so much storage and everything that you need is to hand. The workshop is huge and could be just the place for your business but would also make an incredible addition to the reception areas of the house and I could easily picture a spiral staircase to the loft which I would make into a small reading gallery. The garden lounge is just wonderful and would probably become your most popular room. The setting sun will drench this haven [when it’s sunny of course]. I could go on but that might spoil your enjoyment when you look around but I would add one further description; The garden attests the vendors love of gardening and Anita fell in love with the rope hung swing seat which one can easily picture being the venue for alfresco dining and imbibing … yes I love it … I think you might too…”
Directions
From our offices head out of Thornbury heading north up the Gloucester Road. 300 metres after “The Anchor Inn” turn left onto Butt Lane and proceed out of the town and well into the country. Follow the contours of the road for just over 2 miles until you reach a cross road where Oldbury Naite is sign posted. Turn left here and the lane to Vine Cottage is second right. NB it is awkward to “drive past” this cottage as it is the end of this short cul-de-sac so it is probably better to make an appointment to view.
