Our Thoughts

“… I have to be careful when describing this glorious 19th Century Cottage. Careful not to use too many superlatives in my description and careful not to romanticise too much when talking about its historic antecedents.  Let me then describe The Old Lodge factually … Originally a 2 up and 2 down cottage successive developments have created a country home full of character which now offers four bedrooms and three bathrooms on the first floor and four reception rooms a kitchen and utility room with WC and two delightful conservatories on the ground floor.  Linked by two stairways this house is a delightful warren of well presented rooms each of which has its own peculiar characteristics.   Lofted ceilings in one room; low beams in another; Juliet balconies to one bedroom window; wonderful views from another; everywhere you look it just gets better and better. The gardens are a fitting mantle to this fine house and are approached by automatically operated electronic gates which give to a moulded cobbled yard where several cars can stand. To the front of the house are mature borders with well established shrubs, a theme which is continued onto the southern section which is predominately a fine and well manicured lawn. A large fish pond sits in one corner and the copper beech tree makes a grand feature.  Access can be gained to the adjoining fields from the rear hedge and this, in turn, gives you a right of access to local woodlands and a footpath network which offers lovely country walking. A patio is accessed from the main conservatory and there are other areas of garden that can be customised to your design. I could go on and on but, as I said originally, I have to be careful not to get too carried away with these thoughts … because is an absolutely fantastic property … ooops…”
